Read this article and email me a paragraph detailing what the author thinks the earth would be like with no moon for 5 points extra credit towards your homework. Due by class on Friday, Sept. 23.
Nathan Safir- If the moon didn't exist, many things would change. One, you could obviously not see the moon at night, which would change the calenders of many cultures. Also, there would be smaller tides. there would also be no song entitled " Dancing in the Moonlight" or "Fly me to the Moon". It would also impact the biology of night creatures.
Sarah Caplan- If the moon didn't exist then calendars would not be the same. Jewish holidays would also not be the same because that is how jews find out when a holiday starts.
rachel Youngblade- If there was no moon many cultures would have to change their calenders because many calendars go by the moon. Many animals depend on the moon such as newborn turtles and without it they would not know where to go. Also, at night the only thing in the sky would be stars. Humans would have to find a different way to keep track of the months because for example when the moon is full that symbolizes the beginning of a month. The moon gives out enough force to keep the earth in orbit and without that the earth might fall.
Jacob Bell-If the moon did not exist the calanders would be messed up. But in modern times if the moon just all the sudden exploded we would still have the time and we can tell when its day and night. If the moon NEVER existed cultures will be different and some peoples actions could be different.
Eliana Schuster. The moon’s existence takes away a lot of Earth’s energy, effecting Earth by making days longer and tides smaller. The author thinks that if we had no moon Earth would have much more energy and therefore would have higher tides and shorter days. The author’s idea makes total sense to me. The idea of no moon is so weird; our lives would be so different!!!
